Southern Michigan Railroad Web Site
Come Ride the Rails at SMRS! May through September train excursions travel the historical Clinton Branch line between Clinton and Tecumseh. At the end of September take the train and enjoy the Clinton Fall Festival or in October the train will travel to Tecumseh's Appleumpkin Festival. Also during October, SMRS travels south from Tecumseh through the countryside for Michigan's Fall Color Tours. The railroad property was first built in 1837 as the Tecumseh Branch, the first branch railroad in Michigan, and known as the Palmyra and Jacksonburgh Rail Road Company. Eventually the iron rail was laid to Jackson by 1857 by the Michigan Southern Rail Road Company. SMRS is an all-volunteer operating railroad museum, and houses it's gift shop and museum on the site of Clinton's first electric plant.
