Started in Boyne Mountain in 1956, Symons General Store moved to downtown Petoskey in 1963 and is one of the first brick buildings built there. With a large focus on local ingredients and products, Symons also has one of the best selections of cheese and wine you'll find in the state. With a beautiful and rustic wine cellar that doubles as a dining room for Chandler's, there is no shortage of great food and drink at Symons and Chandler's.
Food & Wine Magazine named it the nex-door (and family operated) Symon's General Store among "America's 50 Most Amazing Wine Experiences." By day the space is a wine store. By night, it's a dining room that holds the overflow crowds. The shelves of the Store here are packed with Michigan wines and delicacies like blue-cheese stuffed olives. Step up to the deli counter for a fantastic on-the-go lunch like the California turkey sandwich, with goat cheese, tomato, lettuce, turkey and basil-pesto mayonnaise on super-fresh bread.
