Map Family Day: Create Your Own Guitar Saginaw Art Museum1126 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602WebsiteEmailPhone: (989) 754-2491 Description In celebration of the opening of SAM's newest exhibition, “Medieval to Metal: The Art and Evolution of the Guitar”, join us for an exciting guitar-themed Family Day. This is a touring exhibition that celebrates the artistic development of the guitar. Developed by The National GUITAR Museum, it features 40 objects, ranging from the six-foot long Renaissance theorbo to the modern transparent acrylic body of California's BC Rich guitars. Using inspiration from the incredible guitar designs on display, create your very own guitar using shoes boxes, rubber bands, colored paper, and a supply of decorating materials. This activity is provided free of charge to children ages 15 and under, and is free with regular admission for anyone over 15 ($3 for students or seniors; $5 for adults). Please note that the number of participants is capped at 20, and that young children must be accompanied by an adult. As such, RSVP's are encouraged, though not required. To do so, please contact Lauren Grotkowski, Registrar-Museum Services Coordinator, at [email protected] or by calling the museum at 989-754-2491 ext. 101. All art materials will be supplied by the museum. Certain materials may become hazardous if used improperly - always follow instructions given by staff leader. We hope to see you for an afternoon full of learning and fun.
