Enjoy the crisp winter air during our free lantern lit ski and snowshoe events that will be offered on select Saturdays this winter (Jan. 6, 20 and Feb. 3, 17). The lighted trail begins at the warming shelter, located next to the parking lot at the end of State Highway M-116 and travels through the park's snow-covered, forested sand dunes. The park has over 40 pairs of snowshoes to loan out on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations will be accepted. Visitors are welcome to bring their cross country skis and/or snowshoes.
Park staff will be on hand to help visitors get started. Participants are advised to dress warmly in layers. A campfire will be available along the trail where visitors can warm themselves and enjoy a hot beverage while talking with park staff and volunteers from the Friends of Ludington State Park. For more information, contact Alan Wernette at [email protected] or 231-843-9261.
Please Note: The Michigan Department of Natural Resources makes every effort to provide the most up-to-date and accurate information on the web calendar.
