Manitou Winds welcomes spring’s brief sojourn with music and poetry celebrating the wandering spirit. You’ll journey to spectacular vistas, go beneath the surface of still waters, and maybe even brave whitewater rapids! The chamber ensemble will be joined by organ soloist Thomas Bara performing on the beautifully renovated and expanded Möller pipe organ at Central United Methodist Church. Together they'll perform “Sojourn” for organ and winds by Craig Phillips (b. 1961) and present the world premiere of "Traveling Mercies"—a brand-new work for organ and wind quintet by Jason McKinney (b. 1979). A dynamic program of contrasting musical colors and styles, the concert is a great fit for welcoming springtime back to Northern Michigan. Admission is free. A freewill offering will be taken to help provide scholarships for Interlochen Arts Academy students.
