The wealthy Baptista Minola of Padua has a problem: his headstrong and clever elder daughter Katherine. His younger daughter, Bianca, sweet and docile, is pursued by many men so Baptista hatches a brilliant plan: he decrees that no one will marry Bianca unless Katherine is married first. Enter Petruchio of Verona. Following the death of his father, he has traveled to Padua in search of a wealthy wife. His friend Hortensio, one of Bianca’s suitors, proposes he woo and wed Katherine for her generous dowry. What follows is a hilarious battle of wills and genders that has been an audience favorite for hundreds of years. MSF’s 2017 production of The Taming of the Shrew will reunite beloved director John Neville-Andrews with MSF Artistic Associate David Blixt and current Producing Artistic Director Janice L Blixt in the show that brought them all together.
