There’s a lot to do in Muskegon County all year round, but it’s really cool here in the wintertime. From extreme sports to extreme Christmas Trees, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
Outdoor enthusiasts will want to explore the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex, offering exciting annual events and outdoor sports facilities such as a publicly accessible luge track. Also enjoy cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, ice skating and hockey.
The Festival of Trees takes place in the marbled halls of the beautiful Muskegon Museum of Art, featuring beautifully decorated trees, wreaths and decorations of every kind. Within this event are many special events such as “Holiday Cheer! Michigan Beer!”, “Festival Senior Day” and the “Teddy Bear Breakfast”! Other historic points of interest include the Lakeshore Museum Center, the Silversides Submarine Museum and the beautiful Frauenthal Theater which is home to America’s tallest “Singing Christmas Tree”. This holiday favorite has been featured on TLC’s “Extreme Christmas Trees” show and highlighted on the Travel Channel.
Getting here is easy! The Muskegon County Airport serves travelers’ needs with United Express, offering daily flights to Chicago O’Hare International Airport and connecting to destinations worldwide.
In the winter, it’s easy to catch our drift! Learn to luge (yes, luge!), snowshoe, cross country ski or skate along miles of lighted, groomed trails. Come to the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex and try it all.
