Located in the central Upper Peninsula, Alger County offers something for everyone. There are places and events for those simply wishing to relax or for those who are searching for outdoor adventure.
Alger County offers abundant natural beauty and more, from the massive sandstone cliffs and dunes of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore to the silent shipwrecks of the Alger Underwater Preserve. The Hiawatha National Forest and Grand Island National Recreation Area offer hundreds of miles of designated trails though secluded forests for all types of silent sports and motor sports uses. Hike to a few of the couple dozen waterfalls that grace Alger County, or relax in one of our towns, on a white sand beach along Lake Superior, or on one of several specialized tours.
