Atlanta is a popular vacation and hunting center. Our forest campgrounds and Clear Lake State Park add to the area's attractions, along with golf, 11+ great fishing lakes, and the many birds, wildlife creatures, flowers and trees that add to the natural beauty of the area. Deer and elk are a very popular attraction and fall colors are a spectacular wonder each year. In the winter months, 'Elk Country' is a place to visit and explore. It is a paradise for snowmobilers with over 135,000 acres of state land, 1,000 miles of trails, two tracks, and unplowed forest roads to ride. Groomed trails connect the communities of Atlanta, Lewiston, and Hillman and more groomed trails leaving those areas will take you to Lovells, Grayling, Gaylord, Millersburg, the Straits Area and beyond. In the spring, people come from all over to hunt the coveted Morel Mushroom. As you can see, Atlanta is a wonderful place to visit, no matter what the season may be.
