As you travel along the US-23 Sunrise Side Coastal Highway, Au Gres is one of the first communities that you will come to along the route heading north- just a 45 minute drive from Bay City-Saginaw! Au Gres is known for it's pedestrian friendly downtown for walking or biking. Downtown is known for it's quality restaurants and pubs, unique shops, and downtown Farmer's Market. Au Gres has many wonderful sights; including picturesque parks with public chapel available for weddings, Au Gres City Campground and Riverfront Park (with playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, volleyball court, horseshoes, shuffleboard and fishing piers), Au Gres Library and Cultural Center, Arenac County Historical Museum, and pedestrian bridge over the Au Gres River. There are also several marinas (private, public and State Harbor of Refuge) located along the Au Gres River. Au Gres is known for it's fabulous walleye and bass fishing and has one of the largest public boating access sites to Lake Huron.
