Contains one large island and over 200 smaller islands. Over 166 miles of hiking trails. Wheeled vehicles and pets are prohibited. In Lake Superior, about 73 miles north of Houghton. Accessed only by boat or float plane. Combination of its protected isolation, its wilderness value and natural beauty provide habitat for an assortment of wildlife. It is designated as an official Michigan Wildlife Viewing Area.
