The Wurtsmith Air Museum consists of three hangars located at the Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport, just off F-41. It is on the former Wurtsmith Air Force Base, once a SAC Base, that was closed in 1993. The museum has some static aircraft displays and other exhibits relating to aviation and military history. Visit the gift shop for hats, shirts, pins, dog tags, patches, models, toy planes and more. The museum is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 11 am to 3 pm throughout the summer, mid-May to mid-Sept. Admission costs are $5.00 adults, $3.00 under 12 and free under 5 yrs. There is discount pricing for school and travel groups of eight or more. Tours of the museum are available. The museum is handicapped accessible. Please call during business hours for more information. Wurtsmith Air Museum's goal is to preserve and maintain the history of Wurtsmith Air Force Base and aviation in NE Michigan. The museum is a 501c3, non-profit organization completely run by volunteers.
