Coming Monday, October 20, to Calvin University, The Traditional Music Orchestra of the Blind, sponsored by Korean Connection, Grand Rapids Sister Cities International, and Calvin University's Korean Student Association.
Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity. The traditional Korean orchestra for the blind is known as the Korean Traditional Music Orchestra of the Blind (KTMOB), also called Blind Kwanhyun. Founded in 2011, it consists of visually impaired musicians who play traditional Korean music (gukak), including court and folk music, as well as innovative fusion pieces. The ensemble is a modern revival of a centuries-old tradition of blind musicians at the royal court, providing career opportunities for visually impaired artists and sharing Korean heritage.
