Discover the mysterious world of owls during Calling All Owls, a guided evening adventure at the Kensington Metropark Nature Center on October 24th. Perfect for curious minds ages 8 and up, this engaging program introduces participants to the owl species commonly found in Southeast Michigan. You’ll learn about the fascinating adaptations and survival strategies that make these nocturnal birds such incredible hunters using mounted specimens, recorded calls, and hands-on demonstrations.
The evening begins indoors with an educational session before heading outside for a leisurely, one-mile moonlit walk along a dirt and gravel nature trail. With flashlights and ears tuned to the night, you’ll search for owls and other nocturnal creatures. Patience and quiet listening are key to spotting wildlife in their natural habitat.
Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m. the day before the program, and the cost is $5 per child and $5 per adult. Dress for the weather, bring a flashlight, and prepare for a memorable night exploring the sights and sounds of the Brighton Howell Area after dark.
