The Cracked Pot Studio Tour (CPST) organizes, manages, funds, promotes, and executes an annual Lansing-area Tour of 10-12 Ceramic Art Studios (Host Studios), involving 40-60 Michigan Artists, generating significant small-business revenue annually for the resident artists. Thousands of people attend the tour-of-studios event each year from the Tri-County area, Michigan, other states, Canada, Europe, Asia, et al. A wonderful outcome of the tour has been the social aspect. People come and picnic on the grass, stroll the artist gardens, walk the studios, view the artist workspaces, and talk with the artists, their neighbors, and other clay enthusiasts. Artists give demonstrations and educate the public on their particular art form. A vital aspect of CPST is the community building of diverse artists and patrons from around the state of Michigan. During the first year tour, two established artists from host studios, living only five miles apart, met for the first time. The CPST mission, started in 2017, is to share with the public an appreciation of pottery, ceramic sculpture and the artistic process. Not-fr-profit CPST will continue to help Ceramic Artists in Greater Lansing indefinitely. The public is especially enthusiastic to tour studios, meet artists, purchase pottery (optional), and get outdoors, for their mental health, and to satisfy their enthusiasm for the Ceramic Arts in Greater Lansing.
