The Fenton Community Orchestra (FCO) and Simply Strings are excited to present their annual Winter Concerts, sponsored by First Choice Heating and Cooling, December 12 at 7 pm and December 13 (matinee) at 2 pm. Admission is free for these performances at Fenton High School’s Ruby Zima Auditorium. Donations are gratefully accepted.
Local musicians Lisa Marchand (violin) and Joe Snider (cello) will be featured soloists on a modern arrangement of the ancient tune Greensleeves. Prokofiev’s Troika will take the audience on a sleigh ride, and Byzantine Dances by Carol Brittin Chambers will get their feet tapping to the beat. Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain will evoke an ominous mood and features Freeman Tucker on clarinet and Olivia Guerrero on flute. Simply Strings, FCO’s partner orchestra for advancing musicians, will perform the Capriol Suite by Warlock, Bach’s Contrapunctus I, a Celtic carol and an arrangement of I Saw Three Ships.
The FCO’s 16th season is sponsored by Marathon Flint Oil and Choice One Bank. Business Council sponsors include Fenton’s Open Book and Interactive Training Systems. They are also supported by grants from Share Art Genesee, Michigan Arts and Culture Council, NEA, and the Fenton Community Fund.
