Experience Muskegon’s maritime history with a guided tour of the historic Muskegon South Pierhead Light along Lake Michigan. Built in 1903, the lighthouse stands at the entrance to the Muskegon Channel and offers visitors a 54-step climb to the lantern room.
From the top, take in views of Lake Michigan, the Muskegon Channel, Muskegon Lake and the surrounding shoreline. Volunteer docents share stories of Great Lakes shipping, lighthouse navigation and the history of this iconic Muskegon landmark.
Tours are offered Saturdays from September 12 through September 26, 2026, from 3 to 7 p.m. Admission is $5 per person. Tours are first come, first served and weather dependent.
Children must be at least 36 inches tall and able to climb and descend stairs independently. Parking is available near the NOAA Lake Michigan Field Station and at Pere Marquette Park.
