The Greater Detroit Gem, Mineral & Fossil Show is back
for its 78th year, hosted by the Michigan Mineralogical Society, with
presenting sponsor Cranbrook Institute of Science. The show will attract families, collectors and school groups from all over the Midwest, featuring
everything from impressive gem, jewelry and mineral collections to authentic dinosaur fossils. It will
be held Oct. 13-15 at Macomb Community College South Campus/Expo Center at 14500
E. 12 Mile Road, Warren, Mich.
Gem and mineral enthusiasts can observe specimens from the
nationally recognized A.E. Seaman
Mineral Museum, Cranbrook Institute of Science, Royal Ontario Museum, and more, and exhibits from some of the top
collectors in the country.
Children of all ages will find the Show to be fun and educational with FREE panning for real gold flakes, fossil dig, $1 grab bags and mineral identification. Exhibitors and vendors are passionate about sharing their knowledge with show attendees so they not only
have a fun and entertaining time, but are also able to walk away with a deeper
understanding of gems, minerals and fossils.
The Show represents the perfect opportunity for families to
spend quality time in a safe and educational environment. Families will be able
to listen to lectures, touch fossils more than 500 million years old, and
marvel at the beauty of minerals and gems. Collectors can purchase the best jewelry, gems, minerals and fossils available.
