Guess What? I Love You Book & Album Release Tour

On tour in support of his fifteenth album and debut memoir, both called Guess What? I Love You, piano-playing singer-songwriter Mike Maimone chronicles the profound love story he shared with his late husband, legendary publicist Howard Bragman, a prominent LGBTQ+ advocate and Hollywood publicist.

The one-man show combines solo-piano performances from the new album with short readings from the book, which received recommendations from Kirkus Reviews and BookLife Reviews, a division of Publishers Weekly, and endorsements from Don Lemon, Anthony Scaramucci, and other best-selling authors. Los Angeles Magazine said, “Together, the album and memoir form a single work—an exploration of love’s endurance and an invitation to remain open to connection and possibility.”

On Friday, October 9th at Affirmations in Ferndale, doors open at 7pm, show starts at 7:30, and runs 75 minutes.

Written with candor and warmth, Guess What? I Love You weaves humor, heartbreak, spirituality, and healing. On his release tour, Maimone invites audiences—especially those navigating grief—to keep their hearts open, embrace the full spectrum of emotion, and look out for the "godwinks" that might tell us our loved ones are still around us, or at least that we're on the right path toward healing.

Since 2005, Maimone has written and published over two hundred songs heard on TV, in films, on the radio, and editorial playlists on Spotify and Apple Music. NPR described his musical style as "a swampy New Orleans-influenced sound reminiscent of Dr. John or Leon Russell," while Yahoo! Entertainment said his "electrifying performances have drawn comparisons to Tom Waits and Warren Zevon." Maimone has taken the stage over 1,000 times in his career as a solo artist, fronting his trio Mutts, and as a session keyboardist. He's appeared at festivals such as Lollapalooza and Riot Fest, headlined iconic venues across the US, performed on three continents, toured alongside OK Go, Plain White T’s, and Blues Traveler, and had the extraordinary experience of performing on keys with Stevie Wonder.
