The Tony Award-winning dark comedy Oh, Mary! is coming to the Fisher Theatre in Detroit. The highly anticipated North American tour production will run for a limited engagement from Tuesday, February 23 through Sunday, February 28, 2027. Written by Cole Escola, this campy, critically acclaimed historical satire reimagines the chaotic, unfulfilled life of Mary Todd Lincoln.
Set in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, the play looks at the forgotten life and dreams of Mrs. Lincoln through a lens of pure absurdity. Instead of a traditional historical drama, audiences are treated to a gin-soaked, cabaret-loving First Lady spiraling through suppressed desires and unrequited yearning. The Broadway production earned two Tony Awards, including Best Direction of a Play for Sam Pinkleton, and was named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The touring version stars Tony winner J. Harrison Ghee in the title role.
