U-pick chestnuts are coming to Northern Michigan this fall! Everyone is invited to visit the North Star Chestnut Orchard at Ox Heights Farm near Rogers City, Michigan! The orchard will be open on October 10th and 17th, 2026, from noon to 6 PM. Free for all to attend. For more details, check out this video on YouTube.
You can pick up chestnuts, roast chestnuts, visit the sheep, visit the oxen, chat with the family, or just walk the farm and forests. Our chestnut orchard is over 20 acres with 1,000 grafted chestnut trees! The open orchard events also correspond to when we experience peak fall colors - the maples and birches will be rich with deep reds and yellows. Get your chestnut and fall color fix on the same trip!
Ox Heights Farm practices regenerative agriculture by integrating trees, livestock, and family to grow some of the best food on earth in a sustainable way. Our family will be present to provide tours and help with U-pick chestnuts. We will answer any and all questions about sheep, oxen, chestnuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, peaches, and maple syrup.
U-pick chestnuts are $6 per pound. Pre-picked chestnuts are $8 per pound. We also will be offering our sustainably farmed grass-fed lamb, maple syrup, hazelnuts, and English walnuts. No purchase is necessary to attend. Our goal is open up the orchard for all to visit and learn about farming chestnuts and eating chestnuts in Northern Michigan.
