Boon Country Store

Boon Country Store is the oldest continuously running cheese store in Northern Michigan and perhaps the entire state. The lineage here is well over 100 years and our guests compliment us as having "the best selection of cheese". In addition, we have transformed the store interior into a throwback in time. A general store museum of sorts with plenty of antiques on display, and we continue to wrap cheese in butcher paper and tie off with string...just the way it was done 100 years ago. And if that's not enough, we proudly display the historic event that started it all, and gladly explain the catastrophe that transpired a Boon Cheese tradition. Our Motto is "take a country drive". We are located amongst the northern portion of the Manistee National Forrest. Surrounded by year-round recreational activities and one of the few remaining true general stores, we are a site not to miss. From spring mushroom season to Fall color tours the Boon Country store has what you need for every season.
