The mission of the Lansing Juneteenth Committee is to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States by celebrating the joys of liberty, educating the community about our heritage, and by promoting positive cultural interaction.
· Annual community softball game on Saturday, June 14 at Gier Park Ball Field from 2pm - 4pm. In addition to the friendly rivalry of the game, there will be a tribute the Negro Leagues. Juneteenth vendors will also at the park.
· Essay competition, awards and scholarship presentations
· Friday and Saturday is the Freedom Festival at St. Joseph Park with vendors, food, live music, dance performances, a DJ, line dancing, chess and checkers games.
· Saturday is the African American Parade that ends up at the park. Health Fair, NAACP Job Fair
