Melbourne instrumental group Surprise Chef brings its cinematic, groove-led sound to Ferndale, shaping tracks with the tension and atmosphere of vintage film scores, jazz and hip-hop. The band’s albums All News Is Good News and Daylight Savings helped introduce its richly arranged sound to listeners beyond the instrumental scene. Its music has also reached a Super Bowl campaign and the NBA 2K24 soundtrack, while “1999 Write The Future” featuring Ghostface Killah, Rich Brian and Smino prominently samples the group.
