Celebrating the Colors of the Season in an RV

Most of us agree that there’s nothing better than Michigan in the fall. From peeping at the changing colors exploding on the trees to cheering favorite colors on gridirons across the state, we know how to make the most of this fabulous season. Or do we? Many outdoor enthusiasts argue that fall in Michigan is best experienced in a recreation vehicle (RV). So, grab the family and hit the road for a stunning fall getaway in a cozy RV.

Leaf the crowds behind

Take your time meandering backroads and finding off-the-beaten track places when exploring the delights of the season in an RV. Lose the crowds and expense of traditional travel by staying in your own home on wheels, preparing your own meals and having all your own vacation necessities with you in one place.

With peak color just a few weeks away, now is the time to plan the perfect road trip. One of many benefits of RV is you can take as long as you want to appreciate the splendor of Michigan, from the comfort of your personal space. Take advantage of the plethora of offerings from local farmers’ markets, cider mills, breweries and wineries and enjoy at your leisure around a campground fire. (Please don’t imbibe while driving!) With all the storage options in RVs, there is always extra room for pumpkins, gallons of cider and heaps of colorful leaves!

Fall is special time when the pure beauty of Michigan really puts on a display. In an RV, it is easy to catch every gold, scarlet, orange and bronze hue from the tip of the mitten to the cuff, and from shore to shore.

Weekends at most campgrounds through October continue to be popular destinations, but during the week are often less busy. Visit www.marvac.org for RV fall fun inspiration and campground listings.

Take tailgating to a new level

When you cheer on a favorite team from your RV, there is no need to worry if the weather turns foul, or bathroom lines are longer than a Hail Mary pass. Tailgating takes on a whole new perspective when done from an RV:

  • Eat. Up your food and beverage game by utilizing the onboard and outside kitchens found on many RVs. With an outdoor refrigerator and grill, friends and family don’t even have to come into the RV to get a favorite snack or drink.
  • Relax. Many RVs have multiple areas to take a nap after passing the pigskin around—either in the shade of an automatic awning or inside on a comfy couch or bed.
  • Watch. No ticket to the game? No problem. Enjoy the fun without a ticket by tailgating with other non-ticketholders from your RV right in the parking lot. Many RVs have exterior TV screens that make it easy.

No matter what sport or team you root for, doing so from an RV makes it a winning time! Visit www.marvac.org for tailgating recipes and tips.

Whatever road you travel to get to a game, or just a pleasant Sunday drive to appreciate the changing of the season, doing so in an RV will ensure you’ll get there comfortably and in style.
