LANSING, Mich. – As a four-season destination, Michigan offers travelers a wide variety of activities and scenic settings to enjoy throughout the year. Launching today, the 4th Annual Michigan Moments Photo Contest is again encouraging people across the state and throughout the nation to share their favorite Pure Michigan photos, and their favorite season.
New this year, four winners will be selected with each winning photo representing one of the four seasons in Michigan – spring, summer, fall and winter. All winning photos will be included in either the 2016 spring/summer, fall or winter Pure Michigan Travel Guides and each winning photographer will receive a prize package from the Pure Michigan store.
“Michigan’s beauty transforms with each season, and we want to celebrate the uniqueness of each season with this year’s photo contest,” said Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan, part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “We always have tremendous engagement from fans and travelers during the photo contest and it is great fun to see the creativity, memories and passion for Michigan that shine through in these photo submissions.”
The submission period for the Michigan Moments Photo Contest will run from Monday, October 5 –Thursday, October 15, 2015. The winning photographs will be chosen from the Top 10 photos in each seasonal category, as voted on by the general public. The public will have an opportunity to choose the photos they believe best represents Pure Michigan during a voting period that runs from Friday, October 16 – Sunday, October 25, 2015.
All contest photos will be displayed at michigan.org/photocontest. Photos may be submitted directly to that same gallery, or through Twitter and Instagram using the hashtags #PureMichigan and #PMContest2015. Submissions must identify the location in Michigan and season featured in the photo and cannot have been submitted in previous photo contests. Additionally, Twitter and/or Instagram accounts must be public in order to submit photos through social channels.
People may vote for multiple entries; however only one vote per person will be allowed per entry, per day during the voting period.
More than 4,350 photos were submitted during last year’s contest, with more than 35,438 votes being cast. Previous winning photos have featured sunrise at Lexington State Harbor on a winter morning (2014), sunset over Lake Superior (2013) and St. Joseph Lighthouse (2012).
