American Char’s authentic, Texas-style smokehouse and bar is located in a cool, rustic barn off U.S. 31 in West Olive, Michigan. If you’re traveling north from Chicago, American Char is the perfect place to stop. Ribs. Brisket. Chicken wings. Pulled pork. All of our meats are prepared using a dry rub that’s slow smoked with our special hickory chips. Top it with a selection of house sauces that includes Memphis, Alabama, Carolina and Texas-style. Restaurant open Tuesday - Saturday. Line dancing Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Karaoke on Thursday evening and music with our DJ on Wednesday to Saturday.

Inattentive servers
Servers were inattentive to the orders, and we waited through four orders and our take-out took over 30 minutes to be made.

Good bbq
