Come visit Northeast Michigan's center for art, history and science with our displays of fine art, Native American history, geology, industry, and a recreated 1890's Avenue of shops. Our 19th century historic buildings including the Green School, Spratt Church, Maltz Exchange Bank, and McKay Log Cabin. Museum hours are Monday through Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm and Sundays from 12pm to 4pm. A brand new, state-of-the-art digital planetarium theater was installed in 2016. Favorite part of the trip.
We visited while on a drive through Alpena. We weren’t expecting much. A $5 per person hodge-podge of art, history, and a planetarium? Strange.

Wonderful - open during COVID!
One of the only places we found open in Alpena to visit during COVID, but worth a stop any time. My kids adored the planetarium and the outside area is a real treat. Toddlers will love the nature...
