One of Michigan’s largest zoos is just east of Kalamazoo in
Battle Creek and is open from spring to fall. Binder Park Zoo is home to many
animals, including Species Survival Plan animals, a coordinated effort between
all zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums to improve the genetics and survivability of threatened and endangered species. Explore this
natural zoo, feed the giraffes, see a lion face to face, ride the train and
carousel, and turn experiences into memories.
What’s New? In
September 2022, Binder Park Zoo opened the Charles & Lynn Zhang SkyLark
Ridge Ropes Course and Zip Line to the public. The zoo’s ropes course is a custom eight-pole,
three-level course with five sky rails spanning 15,000 square feet, with the
tallest platform at three stories high. A separate Consumer’s Energy Foundation
Little Larks course is designed for youngsters under 48” tall. It’s the perfect interactive activity for the
whole family where everyone's age and skill level can participate! The ropes
course is not a predetermined course; participants can choose their path, which
elements to engage in and glide along the Sky Rail zip lines as they wish. Admission to SkyLark Ridge and Little Larks is separate from zoo admission.
