Enjoy Shelby Township's newest park, Chief Gene Shepherd Park. Fire up your imagination in the playground area, hike the trails connecting to the Macomb Orchard Trail, grab some friends for a round of horseshoe and bocce pall or have a splash in our newest addition - the Splash Pad. We've also got sand volleyball, indoor restrooms and access to water and electricity.
Weather permitting, the splash pad is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., daily, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Residents of Shelby Township and Utica can bring children of all ages to play in the firefighter-themed splash pad adjacent to the firefighter playground at the park, which honors late Fire Chief Gene Shepherd at 2452 23 Mile Road.
A daily pass for children can be purchased for $2 or a $25 annual family pass can be purchased, which is good for up to four children. Adult chaperones accompanying children are free to enter the splash pad, and children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Non-residents are permitted to enjoy the splash pad if accompanied by a resident of Shelby Township or Utica.
