Located on Strand Drive on Belle Isle, the Dossin Great
Lakes Museum highlights the rich maritime heritage of the Great Lakes, with a
special focus on Detroit’s pivotal role in both regional and national maritime
history. Spanning 16,000 square feet, the museum offers visitors engaging
exhibits that cover over 300 years of history, exploring the dominance of
shipping fleets on the waterways and the significant impact the Great Lakes and
the Detroit River have had on the region's industrial and social development.
