Empire Outdoors

Empire Outdoors is located in the middle of The Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lakeshore directly west of Traverse City on M-72. We offer localized T-shirts, sweatshirts, beach goods, rental bikes, snowshoes (For the Heritage Trail), fishing tackle, live bait, charter fishing, ice shanty rentals, Marmot, Storm Tech, Marushka, Laundromat, and many other unique clothing companies.
Empire has one of the best beaches in Michigan. Overlooking Lake Michigan you look to the left at the Empire Dunes and to the right you see the Sleeping Bear Dunes. South Bar is the inland lake here in Empire. North bar is two miles north of Empire. You will also find the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail that will take you from Empire to Good Harbor. This is a paved path for walking, biking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. If you take M-109 this will take you to the dune climb where you will be able to see Little and Big Glen Lake. This lake is in the top ten most beautiful lakes in the world noted by National Geographic. Empire also houses the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore Headquarters.
