The Fred Meijer Flat River Valley Rail-Trail is one of four connected rail trail corridors when all are connected will be the 5th longest rail-trail in the USA. This 22.5 mile Fred Meijer Flat River Valley section will connect a northern section Fred Meijer Heartland Trail to Alma and southern section Fred Meijer Clinton-Ionia-Shiawassee Trail to Owosso for a total of 125 mile rail trail corridor. This will allow residents in Montcalm, Kent and Ionia counties to access this wonderful trail. The most direct beneficiaries of this project will be the residents of the three counties. However, the benefits of this trail will reach out to Grand Rapids, Lansing, Saginaw and Flint communities. The City of Belding will be applying for a MNRTF for construction and development of almost 3 miles within the City of Belding. The Grant application deadline is April 2013.
