Great Lakes Fiber Mill is a full service Fiber Mill processing raw sheep, alpaca, goat, and other specialty fibers into finished products. We are opening in Summer 2026 and will offer tours to the public and educational groups. In the future we will expand to have animals on our farm so that we can showcase the full life cycle of fiber in a revitalized industry in the United States, "From Sheep to Skein".
Our purpose is to empower regional fiber farmers by transforming their raw, natural materials into premium, marketable goods, strengthening the local agricultural economy and promoting sustainable fiber production. Our mission is to be the premier custom mini-mill in Michigan, providing small-batch processing of sheep, alpaca, goat, and specialty fibers into high-quality roving and yarn for local producers. We are committed to meticulous craftsmanship and timely service, enabling farmers to maximize the value of their harvests. Furthermore, we will build on this foundation by developing and retailing our own distinctive line of traceable, mill-branded yarn sourced from quality domestic wool.
