Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate has been creating craft chocolate treats in the iconic green buildings along M-22 in Empire since 2004. They source their chocolate directly from small farmers and co-ops in Ecuador and beyond and craft delicious confections here in Empire with local and natural ingredients. In 2022, they expanded the bright green campus to include a Gelato & Sweets shop (directly adjacent to the Chocolate Shop) where they serve housemade gelato, sorbet, fresh-baked cookies, floats, slushes, affogatos, and more. Good choloate but not worth a road trip.
The chocolate was good chocolate but nothing you can't get at any good chocolatier. The prices were on the top side for chocolate. Went there because of seeing it on TV and was driving by it.

Dairy free options.
Both their chocolate shop and their gelato store had several ! dairy & gluten free options for both chocolate truffles AND gelato flavors! A bit pricey but it’s a resort town. They sure were tasty...

Amazing gelato!
Amazing gelato! Several sweet flavors to chose from and they combined 2 scoops together. Clean inside dining and cute outside porch and picnic tables. Wonderful on a hot day after Sleeping Bear Dunes.

Lovely coffee house.
The coffee chocolate coffee house in Empire is a lovely special place with lots of color and excelent coffee. The service was excelent.
