GT Butterfly House & Bug Zoo's mission is to Educate, Engage and Entertain! All indoors and barrier free, the tropical Butterfly House features hundreds of exotic butterflies from around the globe. Relax and stroll along the garden paths, exploring the dozens of species of butterflies flying all around you. The Bug Zoo buzzes with excitement! Featuring a honeybee observation hive, allowing visitors to get up close to a working hive. The Tarantula Tree houses some of the most colorful and unusual tarantulas, while Beetle Boulder showcases beetles and many of their friends, like mantids, millipedes and roaches. Duke Elsner's Crawl Space exhibit features native bugs in a large display. Say hello to our amphibians, including "Squishy" the newt! Don't forget the gift shop to find a unique souvenir. An unexpected excellent find
We planned a day trip from Bay Harbor to Sleeping Bear Dunes. It is over a 2 hour drive, and thought a midway stop would help make the trip bearable for a 5 and 8 year old.
