Hopkins Creek State Forest Campground
This peaceful rustic campground is nestled along the banks of Hopkins Creek surrounded by a tall evergreen forest. It is a favorite spot with trout fishermen. The quaint 7-site campground shares an access road with Hopkins Creek Equestrian State Forest Campground and Trail Camp; however, horses are not allowed to camp or be in the campground area. Six of the campsites are situated in a circle separated by vegetation. There is one walk-in campsite. Amenities include a vault toilet and potable water from a well-hand pump. Sites are on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations.
Shore-to-Shore Trail
The state forest campground is a stop along the Shore-to-Shore Trail, a 420-mile trail system open to hiking and horseback riding, that stretches east-west from Empire to Oscoda with two additional northern and southern spur trails. The Michigan Trail Riders Association assists with maintenance of the trail. Visit the MTRA website to view maps or call 989-723-1425 for more information.
