The Menominee River State Recreation Area encompasses nearly 10,000 acres of public land along a 17 mile stretch of undeveloped river. This area is co-managed by the States of Wisconsin and Michigan.
A beautiful setting for wildlife watching with numerous campgrounds and boat access points along the river cater to wildlife watchers with canoes. The scenic Piers Gorge area of the river contains some of the fastest-moving water in Michigan also offers white water rafting with beautiful scenery. There are spectacular bald eagle viewing opportunities. In addition to the eagles, osprey, common loons, and waterfowl are common sightings.
