Mt. Shasta Restaurant has been serving travelers on US-41 in Michigamme since 1939. The dark log cabin — stone chimney, front porch, and a dining room full of Upper Peninsula history — sits across the highway from Lake Michigamme, and scenes from the 1959 film Anatomy of a Murder were shot here.
The kitchen serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner Tuesday through Sunday: Lake Superior whitefish from local waters, pub burgers, homemade meatloaf, a fresh salad bar, and homemade desserts. Friday night is the fish fry, and Saturday is Prime Rib Night. The full bar pours craft cocktails and local draft beers.
In summer the patio faces the lake with picnic tables, umbrellas, and a gazebo stage for live local music — and boaters can tie up at the dock in Michigamme's municipal park, right across the highway. Mt. Shasta was named the Lake Superior Community Partnership's Moose Hills Small Business Award winner for 2026.
