This light is located at the end of the break wall at McLain State Park, nine miles north of Hancock. The 50' square steel tower was built in 1950. Little commercial traffic passes through the Keweenaw Waterway these days as the modern Great Lakes freighters are too large, but pleasure craft and an occasional excursion vessel still use the historic passage.
