The Reed City Heritage Museum - Home of the Old Rugged Cross is an outgrowth of a memorial cross erected and dedicated on September 14, 1954, north of Reed City at the home of Rev. and Mrs. George Bennard. Rev Bennard was the author of world-renowned hymn, "The Old Rugged Cross," written in 1913. The museum contains mementos and relics not only from the Bennard home, but also from the original Osceola County Historical Museum. The museum was renamed as the Reed City Heritage Musuem in 2021 with a new location at 138 W Slosson Ave in Downtown Reed City. The museum is open year-round Friday through Monday 1 to 4 pm. Closed Holidays. Free admission. Group and private tours by appointment.
