Many hikers come to Tahquamenon Falls State Park to tackle this infamous 4-mile trail between the falls, considered one of the most scenic trails in the park. The trail passes through an old-growth forest of American beech, sugar maple, eastern hemlock and yellow birch. A privately operated shuttle is available from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day to transport hikers between the Upper and Lower falls. Check the schedule and current fees, posted at park entrances, campgrounds and shuttle stops, before you head out, as times vary by season.
This 4-mile linear trail (8 miles roundtrip) is considered difficult due to exposed roots, hilly terrain and numerous staircases. Make sure to have plenty of water, snacks and bug spray along for the hike. Bicycles are not allowed on this trail. The trail is not maintained during winter months.
