The Windermere was built in 1887 as a summer residence. In 1904 it opened as a hotel and still retains its classic charm and elegance. The beautifully appointed rooms overlook the Straits of Mackinac. An inviting sun porch, lobby and a large veranda are for the guests' relaxation. The hotel is located on the edge of Main Street within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the Grand Hotel. The Windermere is operated on the European Plan.

Wonderful stay!
The entire place is a 10 out of 10. From check in to check out, we had no issues. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching the horse and carriages go by. The lovely view of the beach area...

My Happy Place
A beautiful, most relaxing hotel on the island. Its perfect location and lovely large porch makes it stand out. Love the cute breakfast nook!
