Woods & Waters

Woods & Waters is a family-owned, women-led guided ecotour and rental shop in Cedarville, MI and the Les Cheneaux Islands (lay shh-know) — a wonderland of 36 islands tucked along the north shore of Lake Huron in Michigan's eastern Upper Peninsula. Just 30 minutes east of the Mackinac Bridge and St. Ignace. Home of the Les Cheneaux Wooden Boat Show (Aug) and the Aldo Leopold Festival (May). Turn right instead of left and come find experiences that shape your story, like it did conservationist Aldo Leopold as a boy, in an uncrowded and natural UP.

Guided trips are small groups where you're seen and heard by friendly guides. Kayak trips include the Little Dipper (2-hour), the Bigger Dipper (half-day), Sunset, Sunrise, Perfect Picnic Kayak Day (with lunch enjoyed somewhere you can only reach by paddling), and WOW! (our women-only multi-day trip). For paddlers ready for more — kayak lessons and overnight trips. Hiking on the North Country Trail (NCT) or Drummond Island too.

Rentals: sea kayaks, sit-on-top kayaks, SUPs, one sturdy canoe, and mountain and gravel bikes. Bike repairs for whatever's making that noise. Retail shop stocked with quality gear — we're authorized dealers for P&H Sea Kayaks, Swell Watercraft, NRS, Astral, and Gregory packs.

Open mid-May through early October. Off-season? We still respond to inquiries. If you've never paddled, we'll teach you. If you've paddled thirty years, we'll show you water you haven't seen.
