If you spent most of the winter indoors, your thoughts are probably turning toward warmer vacation plans right about now! Well, it’s not too soon to start planning, as the warmer months will be here sooner than you think.  How about spending some of the days at a Michigan campground in a brand new RV?

RVers do more than just hit the road in their vehicles. RV families get outside and walk, bike, jog, rollerblade and hike—whether it’s down small-town streets, over miles of trails, or through landscaped campgrounds.

The Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC) recommends to start planning now, as the warmer months will be here sooner than you think. Here are some suggestions on how to begin setting up your summer RV and camping vacations.

Check your schedule—Campgrounds can book up quickly with the most popular weekends (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day) often filling up before the snow has melted. If you have flexibility, consider a middle of the week or non-holiday excursion.

Check the map—While places like Traverse City and Grand Haven are perpetual favorite spots for vacationers, there are so many other places to explore in Michigan. Visit MARVAC and check out the map to discover campground or RV resorts across the state

Check your equipment—After deciding when and where you’re going, check your RV to make sure everything is still in good condition. Taking the RV out of storage for the first time this year? Get it professionally looked over by a RV specialist. You can find RV dealers and service centers at www.marvac.org.

Check out a show—An enjoyable way to discover a new place to experience--and possibly a new RV to discover it in--is at a MARVAC-sponsored RV show. MARVAC is hosting RV shows all across the state, from Battle Creek to Port Huron, Flint to Traverse City, and every weekend in March.
