Elena Kapintcheva and Melanie Derro noticed a growing trend across the country: women are rethinking nightlife and looking for uplifting, early evening experiences where they can dance, connect and still be home by midnight.
When they couldn’t quite find what they were looking for in Metro Detroit, they created it.
Cinderellas on the Dance Floor is a brand new, women-only event set to debut 7-11 p.m. Friday, April 17 at 215 West in Ferndale, Mich. It features world-class DJs, uplifting energy and the freedom to express one’s self. The premiere event will feature co-headliners Detroit house music legend Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale, often dubbed the Godmother of House Music, along with Rimarkable, an internationally respected DJ known for electrifying dance floors. Derro will perform the opening set.
“There is something magical about a dance floor full of women moving together to the same beat,” Derro said. “The energy is healing, empowering and deeply communal.”
The co-founders believe this event is about more than music. It's meant for women and welcomes trans and non-binary individuals, to a space for freedom of expression and emotional safety.
“Our mission is to celebrate the individual power of every woman,” said Kapintcheva. “When women gather, support each other and move freely together, something beautiful happens.”
