Life in Paris at the turn of the nineteenth-century whirred with tension and possibility as society wrestled with competing visions of the future. At the fin de siècle literally, the end of the century artists embraced a spirit of liberation, forging bold new aesthetics that transformed every corner of public and private life.
France stood on the precipice of a new epoch. It was a time of rapid change, when the promises of the future lured artists into uncharted territory. Out of this charged atmosphere, artists produced some of the most compelling and influential images of the era. This exhibition explores the visionary lives of the artists, designers, muses, and socialites who shaped a world defined by upheaval, beauty, and reinvention.
Focusing on French cultural production between 1880 and 1910, the exhibition highlights the extraordinary aesthetic ingenuity of the moment.
