The Warren Concert Band’s annual “side-by-side” show on May 17 will feature an eclectic and musically complex program and 15 high school musicians playing alongside the 75 regular band members.
“It is going to be a real delight to see such a large group of talented musicians on stage performing the challenging program we have in store,” said WCB musical director and conductor Jeremy Duby.
“I am very proud of this group; they have demonstrated the ability to perform challenging contemporary music while keeping a welcoming community atmosphere,” said Duby.
“I am extremely proud to be part of this band,” said Maureen Michaels, a member of the woodwinds section. “Jeremy is a great coach, and he has elevated both me and the band to perform at the next level.”
The WCB will also be presenting scholarship awards to deserving students. A total of $2,100 will be awarded to several students to be used for private instruction, purchasing equipment, materials, repairs or upgrading their primary instrument. The scholarships are made possible in part by the sponsorship of A &G Central Music.
The Warren Concert Band will perform on Sunday, May 17, at 3 p.m. at the Warren Woods Middle School Auditorium, 13400 Twelve Mile Road in Warren. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for high school students and free for children in grades 8 and under when accompanied by a paid adult. Tickets are available at the door, cash or check only.
