Michigan Mosaic Artist Michelle Sider will present more than 40 original works she created between 2009 and 2026 for her largest solo exhibition to date. Titled “Seeking Light: Mixed Media Works by Michelle Sider,” The exhibition is free and open to the public from May 20 to Aug. 9, 2026 at Stamelos Gallery Center on the campus of U-M Dearborn.
Sider is a Michigan-based mixed media artist known for her lush, detailed mosaics and paintings. Her work explores global themes of identity, sense of place and spirituality. This solo exhibition will highlight her mosaics alongside inspirational photos, paintings, drawings and behind-the-scenes videos. For "Seeking Light, " her works will be separated into three sections: Leaving Darkness, Celebrating Radiance and Light Endures.
“This show is truly a dream come true,” said Sider. “I’ve envisioned a large-scale solo exhibit for years, and having the chance to bring that vision to life in such a beautiful, expansive gallery means so much to me."
An Opening Reception for "Seeking Light" will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2026. An Artist Talk with Michelle Sider begins at 6 p.m. The reception includes complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres. Parking is free and conveniently located. Additional Artist Talks will be held at 3:30 p.m. June 30 and July 11.
