Celebrate Pure Michigan Night at Comerica Park with giveaway, ticket packages

Release Date

DETROIT, Mich. – Join Pure Michigan for an exciting night at Comerica Park on Tuesday, June 13 as the Detroit Tigers take on the Arizona Diamondbacks. The first pitch will be thrown out by 95-year-old Dorothy Zehnder, life-long Michigander and co-founder of the family-owned Bavarian Inn of Frankenmuth.

As part of this year’s Pure Michigan night at Comerica Park, the first 10,000 fans will receive a custom Pure Michigan Detroit Tigers koozie. Tickets are still available.

Pure Michigan Day at Comerica is part of a partnership with the Detroit Tigers that also includes Pure Michigan branding on the dugout railings and benches, as well as advertising on TigerVision and the scoreboard throughout the regular season.

As part of the evening, Pure Michigan will be recognizing Dorothy for her longstanding dedication to Michigan’s hospitality industry. As co-owner of one of the Midwest’s top tourist destinations, she plays an important role in encouraging visitors and locals alike to visit Frankenmuth. At 95, Dorothy is still working in the kitchen at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant almost every day, ensuring high quality experiences and serving smiles (and world famous chicken dinners) to guests.

“I have wonderful memories of attending Tigers’ games with family and friends in the past. It was often an annual event for us,” said Zehnder. “Who would have thought that I, at age 95, could be throwing out the first pitch? I am thrilled and extremely honored to be asked.”

“We are excited to once again recognize our fans during Pure Michigan night at Comerica Park,” said Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan, part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “This event is a great way to bring people to the city of Detroit and celebrate our partnership with the Detroit Tigers that helps to elevate awareness about Michigan to a national audience.”

More than 2.5 million fans are anticipated to be in attendance at Comerica Park this year, with more than 25 million television viewers expected to watch Detroit Tigers baseball in 2017. Additionally, close to 2,000 visiting media – local, national and international – come to Comerica Park each year to cover teams competing against the Tigers.

The game begins at 7:10 ET.
